Introduction

My name is Orlando Luis Fortich Millan. I’m 21 years old. I’m from Colombia, I was born in Barranquilla-Atlantico which is the Caribbean coast at the north of Colombia. I’m studying systems engineer on UniNorte. My hobbies are playing basketball, and playing videogames.

My intercultural experience

Last year I was ok minca, which is a very little town over the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. I was staying in a hostel that is very famous within the travelers called Casa Elemento. At this hostel you stay with travelers from a lot of different countries, I meet people from Netherlands, France, Spain and UK.

My experience with people from another countries and cultures was awesome, I wished I could’ve stayed a little longer, but I had so much fun teaching them expressions from my own culture.

The iceberg of culture

This time I will be writing about the Italian’s culture by following the tommys model of culture, and using the iceberg of culture.

The iceberg of culture suggests that there are some characteristics of a culture that are easily to change and others that not. Also when we are looking a culture, there are few things that we can identify, like the flag, the food, the language etc, that is the top part of the iceberg.

reviewing the top part of the iceberg of italian culture, I can identify things like the language, food, and art/artists. in case of food, there is the pasta, pizza, cheese, and there some traditional dessert like the gelato and the tiramisú.

Talking about language, there is the italian language which it comes from the latin language, like the Spanish, French and Portuguese.

Then, there is the art/artist of the italian culture, in which we can find pieces of art like David by Michelangelo , School of Athens by Raphael, Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci and there are a lot of examples.
